Leesburg Today | Oatlands Initiates Journey Living Legacy Tree Project

Oatlands Historic House and Gardens, where last year the Journey lauched its vast Sesquicentennial commemoration to plant the Rt. 15 corridor with 620,000 trees as a living memorial to those who fell on both sides during the Civil War, is partnering with Journey to plant more than 400 trees at the 360-acre estate south of Leesburg.
As the first concrete step in the project, Oatlands’ Board Chairman Michael J. O’Connor and Journey announced the selection of landscaping firm Greenscapes by Design to provide and plant the trees, starting next month. As previously announced, Alexandria-based landscape architecture firm Rhodeside & Harwell has been commissioned to provide the overall landscape design for the Living Legacy project, including the pilot program at Oatlands. >>>READ MORE HERE
