Destination Management Inc’s
mission is to promote tourism in Lawrence and Douglas County by focusing fiscal, management and community resources on heritage and cultural assets in an effective and collaborative manner. Douglas County, the City of Lawrence, the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce and Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area are the stakeholders with representation on DMI’s Board of Directors.
The President and CEO of DMI has responsibility for the operating functions of the Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau (LCVB), Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area (FFNHA), and the coordination of funding for Douglas County Historical Societies including Watkins Community Museum of History. The President will operate DMI, LCVB, and FFNHA in compliance with their respective bylaws and will coordinate board meetings and make appropriate and timely reports.
The President and CEO of Destination Management Inc, Lawrence Kansas acts as the Executive Director of the Freedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area, a 501c3 non-profit. Responsibilities include management of the work of the Trustees, staff and volunteers to fulfill the mission and implementation of the ten-year management plan, grant-making, marketing, research, interpretation and fundraising. Leadership in the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with constituencies on local, state and national levels in addition to nonprofits, businesses, and foundations to assure effective program performance is expected.
