Teacher Resources

The lessons provided are designed to help teachers create meaningful experiences for their students as they study the people and events along the 175 mile corridor from Gettysburg to Charlottesville. Lessons meet local and national social studies standards with an emphasis on the leadership contributions of the diverse people who shaped our nation.

Lesson criteria:

  • Include compelling content that challenges students to analyze primary source documents and apply lessons to contemporary situations.
  • Integrate technology and creativity into the history classroom.
  • Provide innovative ways for teachers and students to study and visit historic sites along the corridor.
  • Add authenticity to students' experiences as they interact with historical experts.
