Journey Though Hallowed Grund Wine Label using
the painting by the local artist Antonio Walker |
Waterford, Virginia – The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership
recently unveiled its private label wine collection created by Prince Michel
Vineyard & Winery, an award-winning winery located in the heart of Virginia
wine country along the Journey Through Hallowed Ground (JTHG). The distinctly
bottled Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc, capture the essence of the Journey,
a 175-mile historic corridor between Gettysburg, PA and Monticello, VA.
Each
bottle of JTHG wine features a specially designed label with a bucolic landscape
painted by famed artist, Antonia Walker, who created the special scene in oil
and then graciously donated the finished piece for this and other efforts of
the JTHG Partnership. A recent visiting artist to the American Academy in Rome,
Walker is known for her paintings of the Virginia countryside, as well as images
of Italy and France. Walker’s work has been represented in many collections
including the Arts-in-Embassy program of the State Department, in a traveling
NASA exhibit celebrating the space program and in many corporate and private
collections throughout the United States.
"I wanted to create this painting
for the Journey specifically because I am a landscape painter, and this landscape
has been inspiring me for years," said
Walker. "All of the different colors of farmland, the golden fields of
hay, the blue green fields of rye and alfalfa, the mountains, the trees, it
just feeds my soul. The JTHG Partnership is a brilliant idea, and I wanted
to support it."
Prince Michel’s owners have generously offered to
donate $5 from the sale of each bottle of JTHG special label wine to support
the JTHG Partnership’s
educational and heritage tourism programs. “Our collaboration with Prince
Michel Vineyard & Winery gives the JTHG Partnership a new way to celebrate
and support the vital fabric of American history found in this region,” said
Cate Magennis Wyatt, President of the JTHG Partnership. “Now we can encourage
visitors to take—and taste—the Journey.”
The wine may be purchased through Prince Michel’s website, www.princemichel.com or
at the winery, located at 154 Winery Lane, Leon, VA.
