Waterford, VA –On Friday, October 26, 2007, the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership received Scenic Virginia’s Creative Scenic Enhancement Award at the 2007 Scenic Awards at the historic Kent-Valentine House in Richmond. The award was presented to the Partnership for “showcasing the numerous assets and extraordinarily rich history, culture and natural beauty that originates in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; travels south along Route 15 through Frederick County, Maryland and into Virginia; and culminates at Monticello and Route 20 in Charlottesville, Virginia.”

“This is a lovely honor, which we accept on behalf of our Partners,” said Beth Erickson, Marketing Director, The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership. “We thank Scenic Virginia for their leadership and look forward to continuing our work with them as we move toward National Scenic Byway designation for the JTHG corridor.”

Established in 1998, Scenic Virginia is a statewide private nonprofit whose mission is to preserve, protect and enhance the scenic beauty and community character of the Commonwealth.
