Waterford, Virginia—The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership announces the addition of Lyle Werner, former executive director of The Good Shepherd Alliance in Leesburg, Va., to its executive team. Werner will serve as the JTHG Partnership’s Director of Development, a newly created position dedicated to raising funds for the Journey’s educational and heritage tourism programs along the 175-mile Journey Through Hallowed Ground, which follows the Old Carolina Road from Gettysburg to Monticello. Werner assumed her new role on March 10, 2008.

A significant Loudoun County leader, Werner brings more than 20 years of business and development experience in both non-profit organizations and corporations. Most recently, Werner served as the executive director of the Leesburg, Va.-based Good Shepherd Alliance, which provides emergency housing and near term support for the homeless of Loudoun County, Va. As executive director, Werner was responsible for the management, design and implementation of all promotional, funding campaigns, gift programs, fundraising events, grants and management activities of the organization. Prior to joining The Good Shepherd Alliance, Werner served as the executive director of the Loudoun Community Free Clinic and as vice president of operations at Grubb & Ellis.

“Lyle is a seasoned professional with extensive experience as a fundraiser and community leader, and we could not be more thrilled to have her join The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership team,” said Cate Magennis Wyatt, president of the JTHG Partnership. “Her passion for, and dedication to, the region is impressive, and we are confident that she will bring valuable insight and gifts to both the Partnership and the JTHG region.”

Werner is the founder of the Leesburg District Residents Association and a former board member of the Leesburg Mainstreet Economic Redevelopment and served for five years as a commissioner for both the planning and traffic commission in the Town of Leesburg, Va. In 2004, Werner was named Loudoun County’s Woman of the Year for her leadership abilities. She also serves as an advisory board member for Shenandoah University’s Northern Virginia Campus and is a member and former officer of Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Colonial Dames 17th Century. Werner received her B.A. in Business Administration in Economics from Bridgewater College.
