Lyle Werner Joins The Journey Through Hallowed Ground

Waterford, Virginia—The Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership
announces the addition of Lyle Werner, former executive director of The Good
Shepherd Alliance in Leesburg, Va., to its executive team. Werner will serve
as the JTHG Partnership’s Director of Development, a newly created position
dedicated to raising funds for the Journey’s educational and heritage
tourism programs along the 175-mile Journey Through Hallowed Ground, which
follows the Old Carolina Road from Gettysburg to Monticello. Werner assumed
her new role on March 10, 2008.
A significant Loudoun County leader, Werner
brings more than 20 years of business and development experience in both non-profit
organizations and corporations. Most recently, Werner served as the executive
director of the Leesburg, Va.-based Good Shepherd Alliance, which provides
emergency housing and near term support for the homeless of Loudoun County,
Va. As executive director, Werner was responsible for the management, design
and implementation of all promotional, funding campaigns, gift programs, fundraising
events, grants and management activities of the organization. Prior to joining
The Good Shepherd Alliance, Werner served as the executive director of the
Loudoun Community Free Clinic and as vice president of operations at Grubb & Ellis.

president of the JTHG Partnership. “Her passion for, and dedication to,
the region is impressive, and we are confident that she will bring valuable insight
and gifts to both the Partnership and the JTHG region.”
Werner is the founder of the Leesburg District Residents Association and a
former board member of the Leesburg Mainstreet Economic Redevelopment and served
for five years as a commissioner for both the planning and traffic commission
in the Town of Leesburg, Va. In 2004, Werner was named Loudoun County’s Woman
of the Year for her leadership abilities. She also serves as an advisory board
member for Shenandoah University’s Northern Virginia Campus and is a
member and former officer of Daughters of the American Revolution and a member
of Colonial Dames 17th Century. Werner received her B.A. in Business Administration
in Economics from Bridgewater College.
