Extreme Journey Summer Camp—Vodcasts 2008

Last summer, Ron Maxwell, director of the movie Gettysburg, told a group of students that the role of historical filmmakers is “to do more than entertain. It is to illuminate, and sometimes even amaze.”

On the final day of Extreme Journey High School, in partnership with UVA's Summer Enrichment Program, Ron Maxwell spoke to participants about the challenges, rewards and responsibilities of historical film making. Maxwell is the highly regarded director of Gettysburg (1993) and Gods and Generals (2003).
