Interactive educational programs, exhibits, seminars and lectures provide
the knowledge that Civil War medicine connects us not only to our past,
but is the scientific and historical link to our present and our future. A
satellite of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, the Pry House Field
Hospital Museum uses the events of the bloodiest day in American history
to compare and contrast medical practices from 1862 and today. Considered
the birthplace of first aid and emergency medicine, visitors may explore
the elegant Greek-Revival farmhouse, barn and a kitchen and medicinal garden
to discover how this small hamlet in Western Maryland coped with the destruction
of its neighborhood.
