June 25th, Robert G. Stanton, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Department
of the Interior joined the JTHG Partnership in Harpers Ferry National
Historical Park to unveil the pilot initiative for “Of
the Student, By the Student, For the Student “ — a groundbreaking,
21st century service-learning program, where students created mini-movies
offering their interpretation of history within their own back yards
to help students of all ages and from around the globe connect to that
history.

United States Congress Passes Legislation to
Create The Journey Through Hallowed Ground National Heritage Area
Congress passes legislation creating a National Heritage Area that encompasses
the entire JTHG corridor. The National Heritage Area designation is a
national honor that will expand opportunities for economic development,
particularly within the heritage tourism industry, as well as the educational
programs for students of every age.
