The Bull Run Mountains are the easternmost mountains in Virginia. The Virginia Outdoors Foundation’s Bull Run Mountains Natural Area Preserve is approximately 2,350 acres that serve as a living laboratory and open-air museum that sits in the backyard of our nation’s capital. In addition to the rich ecosystem and various plant community types, the preserve has a diversely peopled history and contains many homestead sites (ranging from the 1700s through the 1930s) and associated historic cemeteries.

For potential scientific and cultural research endeavors and/or organized educational trips/programs - please contact VOF-BRMNAP staff. These types of projects/events can be provided the proper permits and arranged for time and day of the week that is arranged with staff.
